總結(jié)	This gene encodes a membrane-associated enzyme located ata branch point in the mevalonate pathway. The encoded protein isthe first specific enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis, catalyzingthe dimerization of two molecules of farnesyl diphosphate in atwo-step reaction to form squalene.
