功能	DNA and RNA-binding protein which regulates transcription and splicing. Involved in the regulation of CFTR splicing. It promotes CFTR exon 9 skipping by binding to the UG repeated motifs in the polymorphic region near the 3'-splice site of this exon. The resulting aberrant splicing is associated with pathological features typical of cystic fibrosis. May also be involved in microRNA biogenesis, apoptosis and cell division. Can repress HIV-1 transcription by binding to the HIV-1 long terminal repeat. Stabilizes the low molecular weight neurofilament (NFL) mRNA through a direct interaction with the 3' UTR.

The protein encoded by this geneis a transcriptional repressor that binds to chromosomallyintegrated TAR DNA and represses HIV-1 transcription. In addition,this protein regulates alternate splicing of the CFTR gene. Asimilar pseudogene is present on chromosome 20. [provided byRefSeq].

APG02984G) western blot analysis in Hela cell line and mouse brain lysates (35ug/lane).This demonstrates the TARDBP antibody detected the TARDBP protein (arrow). Fluorescent confocal image of Hela cell stained with TARDBP Antibody (N-term)( APG02984G).Hela cells were fixed with 4% PFA (20 min), permeabilized with Triton X-100 (0.1%, 10 min), then incubated with TARDBP primary antibody (1:25, 1 h at 37℃). For secondary antibody, Alexa Fluor? 488 conjugated donkey anti-rabbit antibody (green) was used (1:400, 50 min at 37℃).Cytoplasmic actin was counterstained with Alexa Fluor? 555 (red) conjugated Phalloidin (7units/ml, 1 h at 37℃). Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (blue) (10 μg/ml, 10 min).TARDBP immunoreactivity is localized to nucleus significantly and Cytoplasm weakly.
