功能	Inhibits p53/TP53- and TP73/p73-mediated cell cycle arrest and apoptosis by binding its transcriptional activation domain. Inhibits degradation of MDM2. Can reverse MDM2-targeted degradation of TP53 while maintaining suppression of TP53 transactivation and apoptotic functions.
總結(jié)	The human MDM4 gene, which plays a role in apoptosis,encodes a 490-amino acid protein containing a RING finger domainand a putative nuclear localization signal. The MDM4 putativenuclear localization signal, which all Mdm proteins contain, islocated in the C-terminal region of the protein. The mRNA isexpressed at a high level in thymus and at lower levels in allother tissues tested. MDM4 protein produced by in vitro translationinteracts with p53 via a binding domain located in the N-terminalregion of the MDM4 protein. MDM4 shows significant structuralsimilarity to p53-binding protein MDM2. Two transcript variants,one protein-coding and the other likely not to be protein-coding,have been found for this gene.
