TREM2 is a membrane proteinthat forms a receptor signaling complex with TYROBP. The encodedprotein may be involved in chronic inflammation by triggering theproduction of constitutive inflammatory cytokines. Defects in thisgene are a cause of polycystic lipomembranous osteodysplasia withsclerosing leukoencephalopathy (PLOSL).
