CD72, a type II integral membrane glycopotein and a member of the C-type lectin family of cell surface receptors, is expressed in all stages of B cell development except in terminally differentiated plasma cells (1). Ligation of CD72 enhances B cell growth and differentiation. CD72 transmits positive signals through association with Grb2 and or CD19 and negative signals through association with SHP-1 (2 and 3). CD72 has been reported to bind to CD5, suggesting a role in regulating T-cell activation and proliferation (4). Disregulated expression of CD72 was related to disease such as lupus nephritis (5) and primary Sj鰃ren?s syndrome (6).
